Chapter 2:

Micromobility

Micromobilty — encompassing e-scooters, e-bikes and NEVs (neighborhood electric vehicles) — has become an integral part of the mobility landscape in many urban environments. Micromobility has the advantage that, in general, you don’t need a driver’s license to operate an e-bike or e-scooter. It also promises far fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, this chapter also explores recent developments in cities implementing congestion fees, the “15-Minute City,” and the recent backlash by some cities against electric scooters.
